Coins, scorecards from ICC World Cup matches up for grabs
In 10 days, the spectacle that is the ICC World Cup returns to our screens and homes. We’re already battle-ready, declaring that India won’t give up the World Cup. But much like last year, the battles won’t be fought only on the pitches. They’ll rage in the online space created by ICC to auction memorabilia from the matches.

Up for grabs are coins and scorecards used in all the matches, as well as the balls, though just the ones used in the quarter finals, semis and finals. The bidding has just begun and not surprisingly, the earliest bids placed are for the India-Pakistan match on February 15. The bid for the coin used in the toss currently stands at $1,200 (Rs 75,000 approx) and for the scorecard at $150 (Rs 9,000 approx).

Last year, the toss coin used in the India-Pak semis sold for $13,600 (Rs 85,000 approx) and the match ball for $20,200 (Rs 1,25,000 approx). Judging by the past, the bidding war’s only begun.
