Clayface digital release

DC Studios is taking one of Batman’s most disturbing villains in a different direction with Clayface, a horror film that explores body transformation, obsession and revenge. The film, starring Tom Rhys Harries, had arrived in theatres just a week before Halloween. However, viewers who prefer watching new releases at home are already looking for details about its digital and OTT release.

When and where will Clayface release on OTT?

The film is currently getting an exclusive theatrical release and although DC Studios has not revealed its streaming plans, Clayface is expected to arrive on HBO Max after completing its theatrical run. The platform has been home to several DC movie releases, making it the likely streaming destination for the James Watkins directorial.

As for the movie's OTT release date, January 2027 is a possibility. Some estimates put the film’s streaming debut somewhere between 80 and 90 days after its theatrical release on October 23, 2026.

According to The Streamable, the movie's HBO Max release could be on January 8, 2027, around 77 days after its cinema debut.

When will Clayface be available for rental and purchase?

Before its streaming debut, Clayface could become available for digital purchase and rental. Even though DC Studios has not confirmed a date for this also, the film might follow the release pattern of other recent theatrical movies.

Using the 30-to-45 day window of those films as a reference, that would put the digital release of Clayface somewhere in early-to-mid December 2026. This would allow viewers to rent or purchase the film online before it arrives on a subscription streaming service.

What is Clayface about?

The film stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, an actor whose life and career are turned upside down when he gets completely disfigured in a vicious attack.

In the desperation to get back his appearance, Hagen turns to an experimental treatment given by Dr Caitlyn Corr (Naomi Ackie). But that procedure has horrifying consequences and gradually transforms his body into living clay, affecting his grip on reality.

Directed by James Watkins, the film also stars David Dencik, Max Minghella and Eddie Marsan in major roles. Its story is based on the DC comic-book character and the movie is part of the studio's new DC Universe.
