Chumbak is now streaming on Netflix from September 10, 2026. For viewers in India, the series is available from 12:30 PM IST, following Netflix's global release schedule rather than a midnight launch. The show was initially scheduled to premiere on August 28 but was pushed back by nearly two weeks as its promotional rollout was reworked.

Set in the fictional Chumbak Colony in Mumbai, the series revolves around five families who live side by side. Their homes may be separate, but their lives are closely connected. Who is behind Chumbak?

Chumbak brings together Aatish Kapadia and JD Majethia, the creative team known for popular television comedies including Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichdi. Their new series once again centres on family relationships and everyday situations, this time placing them inside a busy urban neighbourhood.

Majethia serves as the producer and showrunner, while Kapadia has taken on several key responsibilities as the writer, director and co-producer. The series is produced under Hats Off Productions.

Netflix India's series head Tanya Bami has described the show as a story about the way neighbours can become an extended family. She also praised Kapadia and Majethia for finding humour in ordinary situations while keeping the emotions relatable.

Kapadia and Majethia have also spoken about their intention to recreate the warmth associated with older neighbourhoods, where people did not necessarily need an invitation to visit one another. Through Chumbak, they aim to bring that sense of togetherness to a contemporary setting and create a show that families can enjoy together.
