Where to watch The Odyssey online in India
According to a report by GQ India, The Odyssey may eventually be available on JioHotstar in India. The platform already streams The Odyssey — The Making of an Epic, a behind-the-scenes feature exploring Christopher Nolan’s ambitious production. That said, there is currently no official confirmation that JioHotstar will be the streaming home for the feature film.Nolan’s previous blockbuster, Oppenheimer, also offers an indication of how the director’s films can sometimes follow a longer theatrical window. The Oscar-winning film arrived on streaming around four months after its theatrical release. This means viewers may have to wait beyond the potential August PVOD window for a subscription-based OTT release of The Odyssey.
The Odyssey cast and story
The Odyssey is a 2026 epic action fantasy film written and directed by Christopher Nolan, who also produced it with his wife Emma Thomas. The film features an ensemble cast led by Matt Damon as Odysseus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope. Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron are also part of the cast. The film was released in IMAX and multiple premium large formats, making its vast landscapes, battles and mythical sequences a major part of the theatrical experience.Christopher Nolan’s adaptation begins with Odysseus missing for 20 years following the Trojan War. Back in Ithaca, his wife Penelope faces increasing pressure from ruthless suitors who want her to remarry and take control of the kingdom. Their son, Telemachus, meanwhile sets out to discover what happened to his father.
Odysseus is eventually freed from the captivity of the nymph Calypso, but his journey home is far from over. His return takes him through a series of perilous encounters, including the terrifying Cyclops Polyphemus, the witch Circe, the underworld and violent sea storms that leave his entire crew destroyed.
When Odysseus finally reaches Ithaca, he returns in disguise and reunites with Telemachus. Penelope then devises a challenge for the suitors, asking them to string Odysseus’s bow. Only the disguised Odysseus succeeds. He reveals his identity and, with Telemachus, kills the suitors. The story then takes an unexpected turn as Odysseus ultimately abdicates his throne and leaves Ithaca with Penelope in search of a peaceful exile.
