Chef Ting Yen's food recommendations for your Japan visit: Wagyu and noodles
Chef Ting Yen recently hosted an authentic Japanese pop up in the city, and he dished out information on what to eat if you’re heading to one of the hottest travel destinations of 2018 – Japan.

Ting says, “If you are visiting Japan, you must try Japanese Wagyu and noodles such as udon, ramen and soba, as well as street food – it is Japanese soul food.” Ting, whose acclaimed Boston restaurant lists footballer Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bündchen as patrons, says that his biggest influence to date has been his family, “My family lived in my father’s restaurant. He was my mentor, my sensai.”

And while Japanese food makes it to most people’s favourite list, Ting tells us what’s on his, “Chinese cuisine is underrated. It utilises all sorts of ingredients, uses the strongest to lightest fire, and touches all your senses and tastes. But my comfort food is a big bowl of white rice. I can’t seem to be happy without it.”.
