Chef Kelvin Cheung served up a Canadian storm for Justin Trudeau, during his India visit
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may have dressed Indian while on his trip here, but he definitely ate Canadian. Fellow Canadian and F&B director of Aallia Hospitality, Kelvin Cheung, played chef for him at a recent event in Mumbai. He couldn’t contain his excitement when he heard the news. “’Woo hoo!’ was my actual reaction. I’m a big fan of Trudeau’s,” Cheung told ETPanache.

Since he wanted the menu to “taste of Canada”, delicacies like buttermilk fried chicken with waffles, Canadian bacon steam buns, maple ice cream and lots more made it to the table. “I did not get the opportunity to chat with Trudeau and only had a few brief exchanges. My job required me to be in the kitchen for the majority of the event. That’s just one of the not-so-glamorous parts of being a chef. But he did shake my hand and thanked me for all my hard work putting together an amazing dinner. That’s something I will always remember!” the chef added.
