'Cheating happens by mistake in marriage': Ram Kapoor's comment sparks debate. Lock Upp 2 star Akanksha Chamola's reply set the record straight
Television actor Ram Kapoor's controversial views on infidelity in marriage have started an online debate after appearing on Lock Upp Season 2. He shared that nothing is a dealbreaker in a marriage. Later, it was strongly countered by co-contestan...

Ram Kapoor shares his views on infidelity
The conversation began during a discussion with fellow contestant Shreya Kalra, who asked Ram Kapoor what he would do if he found out his partner had cheated on him.Responding to the question, Ram said he would not immediately walk away from the relationship. According to him, a strong marriage requires continuous effort, and if two people genuinely love each other, infidelity does not always have to become a dealbreaker.
The actor explained that "Sometimes during 20-25 years of marriage, what happens is you have highs and lows, good periods and bad periods. Bad phase mein agar galti se kisi ek se kuch hojaaye, agar aap unke bagair nahi jee sakte aur aapne bacchon ke bagair nahi jee sakte (If, during a bad phase, one of you ends up making a mistake, and you realise you can't live without your partner or your children), then time heals everything, and nothing is a dealbreaker. Sometimes it happens by mistake."
His comments quickly became one of the most talked-about moments from the latest episode.
Akanksha Chamola strongly disagrees
Ram Kapoor's opinion did not go unchallenged. Fellow contestant Akanksha Chamola immediately expressed a different point of view. She argued that physical intimacy cannot happen accidentally because it involves multiple conscious choices. According to Akanksha, cheating is never simply a mistake made in a single moment but the result of deliberate decisions.
Her response drew praise from several viewers, many of whom felt she presented a clearer perspective on accountability in relationships.
Internet reacts to the viral clip
Soon after the episode aired, a clip of the conversation began circulating across social media platforms, triggering widespread reactions. Many viewers criticised Ram Kapoor's comments, saying they normalised or downplayed infidelity. Some users described his opinion as problematic, while others questioned the idea that cheating could be dismissed as an accidental mistake. At the same time, a section of viewers defended Ram's comments, saying he was talking about forgiveness and second chances rather than encouraging infidelity.
While the debate continues outside the show, the competition inside the Lock Upp house is becoming more intense.
This week, Sunita Ahuja, Harshad Chopda and Akanksha Chamola have successfully escaped elimination. The remaining contestants are still battling to secure their place in the competition. The upcoming episode will feature hosts Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh reviewing the contestants' performances and gameplay before announcing more safe contestants.
