Channing Tatum to star in Warner Bros' 'The Forever War'

LOS ANGELES: Actor Channing Tatum is set to star in an adaptation of Joe Haldeman's 1974 sci-fi novel "The Forever War".

Tatum, 35, will be the leading actor in the film which has been in the works for years.

Based on Haldeman's own experiences in the Vietnam War, the movie centers on a young man, named William Mandella, who is conscripted into a military task force during a war against an alien species named the Taurans.

In 2008, Ridley Scott picked up the rights with plans to direct the movie. David Peoples, Matthew Michael Carnahan, and Dante Harper were in charge to write the script. But now, the director is no longer involved with the project.
