Changes at the top just rumours: Jabong’s Praveen Sinha

Like any startup founder, Jabong's Praveen Sinha is a busy man. But recent media reports indicating a change in management at the company have forced Sinha to respond to several queries from friends and acquaintances.

"I received multiple messages, some were showing sympathy, some empathy and some were even offering opportunity," Sinha told ETPanache. "Some were happy I was going to be promoted, while some thought I was being kicked out. One media article ruins three days of mine. I have to respond to people as most were well-wishers."

So, what is actually happening at Jabong? Sinha clarifies that nothing has changed. He and Arun Chandra Mohan continue to head the fashion ecommerce brand.

Says he, "I am still leading it (Jabong) and I will be leading it till the time I have formed a stable team."

Sinha feels the rumour may have started because he's interviewing people at a management level. He says, "I am trying to create a CXO level strong leadership. To reach and stabilise as we enter the second phase of growth, we will need a layer of leadership that we can develop and groom. And this will take time. I am looking for CXO profiles like CMO, COO, CEO, CFO. We have a CTO already but a backend CTO can also be considered. My intention is to implement it within a year."

To ensure that there wasn't any confusion among staff, Sinha and Mohan called a meeting with their core team and told them not to believe everything that's being reported.
