Chad Lowe’s grief following the death of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, has brought renewed attention to the actor’s deeply personal comments about fatherhood. In interviews and social media posts over the years, Lowe often spoke about the perspective his three daughters gave him and the joy he found in being their father. The Life Goes On actor and his wife, Kim Painter, confirmed Fiona’s death on September 29. Lowe’s public comments about fatherhood became particularly poignant after the family lost its Pacific Palisades home in the devastating January 2025 wildfires. In February that year, Lowe shared photographs of his three daughters visiting what remained of their childhood home. Reflecting on how they had dealt with the experience, he wrote that helping them through it was his “sole purpose” and described being their father as his “life’s greatest joy and privilege.” Fiona was the middle of Lowe and Painter’s three daughters. Her older sister Mabel is 17, while younger sister Nixie is 10.

Lowe publicly celebrated Fiona when she turned 13 in November 2025. Sharing a photograph of his daughter wearing cowboy boots, he wrote: “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! The family has not publicly disclosed the cause of Fiona’s death.
