Chad Lowe daughter Fiona’s cause of death revealed; Kim Painter and husband mourn 13 year-old

Actor Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter, are reeling after the tragic death of their 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Lowe, leaving their family and the school community devastated. With other two daughters, Mabel, 17, and Nixie Barbara, 10, the couple described the late Fiona as a talented and caring girl with a passion for dancing, calling her the "light of our lives" in a statement to PEOPLE. The investigation is still ongoing.

In the statement released by the office of the medical examiner to the outlet, Fiona was declared dead at a local hospital at 1:14 a.m. on September 29, 2026. Suicide was ruled out in her case on October 1. No additional information regarding the incident has been made public yet.

In a statement released following Fiona’s death, the family expressed their profound grief and recalled the qualities that made her special. “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” they said, describing her as “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance.”

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives,” the statement added. The family also requested prayers and privacy as they navigate the loss, while encouraging those experiencing mental health struggles to seek support.

Fiona’s passing has also deeply affected her classmates, friends and the wider community. A source told PEOPLE that the teenager was “sweet, quiet and kind”, adding that dance was her biggest passion and that she had an artistic soul. The source said many of her friends were grieving, with several students absent from school following the tragedy.

The death of Fiona comes after another tragedy suffered by the Lowe family, when their home in Pacific Palisades was burnt down in the fires that occurred in January 2025. Chad had posted pictures showing his daughters visiting their former house and appreciating how strong they had been during the ordeal.

The Lowe family has not made any connections between the earlier tragedies and the death of Fiona.
