You might not have the chance to head to your favourite bar as we stay indoors to fight the pandemic, but there's no reason why you cant bring the World Whisky Day celebrations home.

First founded in 2012, the day falls on the third Saturday of May, and celebrates the spirit in every form - on the rocks, with a mixer, or as a cocktail.

So this Whisky Day raise a toast and be your own bartender with these easy-to-make recipes.

Ingredients
Black & White scotch: 45 ml
Lime juice: 10 ml
Peach juice/syrup: 10 ml
A splash of tonic
Garnish: Orange peel

Method
-
Combine all the ingredients in a glass, add ice and stir
- Top with tonic

Drinkware: Highball

Black Dog Black Reserve: 60 ml
Apple juice: 60 ml
Apple wedges: 3

Method
- Fill a glass with ice
- Pour in whisky with an equal amount of apple juice and stir well
- Sprinkle some cinnamon dust over it. (Optional - Torch it to bring out the warm, woody aroma)
- Garnish with apple wedges

Glenfiddich 12-year-old: 40 ml
Ruby port: 20 ml
Hibiscus tea: 10 ml
Poached pear: 4-5 slices
Lemon: 10 ml
Honey water: 10 ml (1:1)
Hibiscus flower

Method
- Add ingredients to glass and muddle together
- Shake well
- Garnish with hibiscus flower or pear slice

Ingredients
Glenfiddich 12-year-old: 50 ml
Corn husk syrup or Honey Cinnamon Syrup: 7 ml
Angostura Bitters or Chocolate Bitters: 2-3 dashes
Cacao

Method
- Make a corn husk syrup by heating the husk in warm water with some honey and add bit Cacao for aroma. Cook for 15- 20 mins
OR
Make Honey Cinnamon Syrup by heating 1:1 ratio honey and water on a low flame with cinnamon sticks for 5 mins
- Stir ingredients over ice and serve with a big block of ice in a rock Glass
- Garnish with an orange peel

Drinkware: Rock glass or Old fashioned glass
