Cannes 2023: boAt founder Aman Gupta becomes first Indian entrepreneur to walk red carpet, Anushka Sharma set for her debut

The 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival got a taste of India on the first weekend.

On Saturday, boAt founder Aman Gupta - who rose to fame with his TV debut in the business reality show 'Shark Tank India' - became the first Indian entrepreneur to walk the Cannes red carpet.

Taking to social media, the desi Shark said he was "proud" to represent India. After watching the likes of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan walking the red carpet, he said that the 'surreal' experience was a dream come true. He was accompanied by his wife Priya Dagar.


For the Cannes debut, Gupta wore a black velvet Bandhgala and Dagar dazzled in an embellished silver-white gown with a thigh-high slit and a diamond choker.

His caption read, "This is it. Proud to be the first Entrepreneur from India to walk the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. Sometimes you dream and they come true. Sometimes you don’t even know what God has in store for you. I didn’t dream about this one. But now that I'm living it the feeling is surreal. Thank you, God. Thank you Life. Had always seen Aishwarya Rai or other celebs here at the Red Carpet. But never knew I would get this opportunity too. If I CAN, so CAN you."

His co-Shark in the TV show Anupam Mittal, who is the founder of People Group (shaadi.com), was also thrilled to see Gupta at Cannes. He wrote, "Nice guys … representing," in comments.

On the other hand, actress Diana Penty - who was last seen in Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Selfiee’ - also made a comeback to the red carpet.

At Cannes, she wore a stunning black co-ord tuxedo by designer Lena Erziak. The outfit features a plunging neckline, puffed sleeves, wide collars and haram pants with side slits.

Meanwhile, Bollywood diva Anushka Sharma is all set to make her debut soon. Dressed in a white tee, black pants, black cap and a slide sling, the actress left Mumbai for France on Sunday morning.

Sharma also dropped a selfie on Instagram Story from her car, but didn't reveal her location.

The 'NH10' star will be presenting an award at Cannes to honour women in cinema with Hollywood actress Kate Winslet.

Besides Sharma, Sara Ali Khan, Mrunal Thakur, Esha Gupta and Manushi Chillar also made their debut at the festival this year. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Urvashi Rautela also dazzled on the red carpet.
