Cannes 2023: Anushka Sharma makes a dream red carpet debut in an ethereal white ensemble

It’s time for Anushka Sharma fans to celebrate!

After days of making her legion of fans wait, the ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ star finally ended all speculations of whether she will be at the Cannes Film Festival or not.

The ‘Pari’ actress made a breathtaking debut in a body-hugging, off-shoulder Richard Quinn gown. The gown had a ruffled bodice and prominent flower detailing.


Sharma kept her accessories and makeup simple and clear-cut. She wore a pair of elegant diamond earrings. Her makeup was fresh and dewy - minimal eyeliner and light pink lips.

The actress posed for the paps on the red carpet along with Eva Longoria, Andie MacDowell, and Renata Notni.

The actress attended the prestigious film festival to honour women in cinema. She will be joined by Kate Winslet later on. She also represented the luxury brand L’Oreal. The ‘NH10’ star was recently named the face of the brand.

Incidentally, another Bollywood actress also went viral for donning a similar dress created by the same designer at another event. Kriti Sanon was spotted wearing a dress quite similar to Sharma’s floral gown at the IIFA ROCKS 2023. However whereas Sharma’s gown was a pristine white, Sanon’s was a pitch black.

This unexpected twinning moment has fans in splits. An Instagram user wrote, “What a coincidence Anushka and Kriti wore the same outfit.” Another commented, “Similar cut and design Anushka is wearing at Cannes!”

There was no official announcement of Sharma’s debut at the event, but earlier, thi May, Emmanuel Lenin, the French ambassador to India, revealed that she would debut at the film festival. “ "A pleasure meeting Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma! I wished Virat and Team India all the best for the upcoming tournaments, and discussed Anushka's trip to Cannes Film Festival," the tweet read.

On the work front, Sharma was last seen in the Netflix film ‘Qala’. She will next be seen in the sports drama ‘Chakda Express’. The film is based on the life of former cricketer Jhulan Goswami.

Sharma wrapped up the film’s shooting last year. Sharma shared several pictures of the cast shooting at a cricket stadium on her Instagram handle and wrote, “It’s a wrap on Chakda 'Xpress and thank you @JhulanGoswami for the final clap to bring an end to the shoot! (blue heart, clapboard and cricket bat emojis.”
