Can the general theory of relativity make time the circle of history?

Advanced physics sounds as lucidly accessible by the common man as advanced metaphysics. One news story doing the rounds now relates to a new form of matter called excitonium. If you thought the scientists who thought up this name took their inspiration from the movie Avatar, in which marauding humans pursue genocide in pursuit of a rare element called unobtanium, you got it wrong. Scientists have been speculating on excitons, whose condensate is excitonium, and debating whether these are bosons or not, since the 1960s, bosons being particles named in honour of Indian physicist Satyendra Nath Bose (to elaborate the bit of physics ordinary folk understand).

If this sounds merely unfamiliar, take the next bit of explanation as to what constitutes an exciton: an electron and the hole it left behind combined in a quantum mechanical fashion.

If this sounds like the unity of the body and the soul and the transience of that unity, following which the soul can transmigrate to another body, to those uninitiated in the true meaning of such transcendental phenomena, put it down to the limits of normal human intelligence. The temptation is strong, in some circles, to conflate physics with metaphysics and locate the future in the past. It might be prudent to resist such excitement, in the interest of moving forward as a nation.
