Can ‘sex dust’ really improve your performance in bed?

A mood and sexual energy enhancer sold by actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle website evokes scorn and skepticism.

Can ‘sex dust’ really improve your performance in bed?
Imagine yourself to be Gwyneth Paltrow for a minute. You wake up in your sun-soaked mansion and settle down to breakfast. On the menu — a 'sex dust' smoothie.

Before you think this sounds suspiciously made up, it is real. According to lifestyle website Goop, owned by Paltrow, this morning smoothie can "reset your palate". It contains ingredients such as ashwagandha, ho shou wu, cordyceps and "moon dust".

Moon dust, according to manufacturer California-based Moon Juice, "works synergistically at the deepest levels to heal and enhance your beauty, brain, body, sexual energy, sleep and spirit".

Since the actress revealed that it was part of her diet, many took to Twitter to mock her. "Gwyneth Paltrow is literally selling dust for $65 a tub. She has overtaken her own satirists," wrote one user.

Even experts were unsure of Paltrow’s magic potion. "The products throw a lot of Chinese medicinal products together for which the evidence is primarily anecdotal," one nutrition expert told Wired.
