Therefore, patients living with diabetes have to constantly test their blood to understand if their glucose level is under control. It is not only a process that’s slightly painful but also causes discomfort since the patient has to do a finger-pricking blood test. However, according to a recent study, a saliva sample can soon replace blood test for diabetes.

According to a Times of India report, “ The level of specific hormones produced by the adipose tissues that play a role in fat metabolic status indicated type-2 diabetes in a group of people screened by scientists at the India Diabetes Research Foundation.”

However, this cannot be used as a standardized tool for measuring diabetes before further studies are conducted. Experts opine that this particular non-invasive method can detect diabetes in type 2 diabetes patients earlier than a serum test.


Maintaining blood sugar is not an easy task, and requires a lot of lifestyle and dietary changes along with medication. Managing stress and quitting smoking is also helpful in keeping this ailment in check. Controlling alcohol intake is necessary, while exercise can help you cope better
