California boy started sewing at age 4 and has dressed Sharon Stone: Meet Max Alexander, the 8-year-old who broke a Guinness World Record

At an age when most children are still discovering their favourite games and cartoons, Max Alexander was already dreaming about fashion. The California-born boy began designing and sewing clothes at four and has since created more than 100 custom couture gowns. He has hosted runway shows, dressed celebrities including Sharon Stone and Debra Messing, and earned a Guinness World Record. By eight, Max had already taken his designs from local runways to major fashion events, including Paris Fashion Week.

Who is Max Alexander?

Max Alexander is a young fashion designer from Los Angeles, California, who discovered his passion for clothing at an unusually young age. As per information on his official website, Max was born in 2016 in Los Angeles. While attending an arts-based preschool, he drew inspiration from renowned artists including Vincent Van Gogh, Yayoi Kusama, Frida Kahlo and Alexander Calder.

In 2020, at just four years old, Max declared that he was a dressmaker. With support from his mother, Sherri Madison, who is also an artist, he began designing, draping and sewing clothes. The following year, he launched his fashion label, Couture to the Max.

At seven years and 266 days old, he became the youngest person to design a runway show after being offered a runway at Denver Fashion Week.

Guinness World Records reported that Max was closely involved in the project. He served as the main person in charge, with major decisions going through him and every detail being carefully checked. The young designer himself acknowledged that creating a runway show requires considerable effort, involving his mother, models, production staff and several managers.

From Denver to Paris Fashion Week

Max's ambitions did not stop with his first record. In 2026, he became the youngest designer to debut at Paris Fashion Week, adding another remarkable milestone to his already unusual fashion career. His growing portfolio has included runway shows and collections that showcase his preference for imaginative designs and unconventional materials.

During a New York Fashion Week event at the Conrad New York Downtown hotel, Max unveiled a collection which
included a dress woven from neckties and other creations made using recycled coffee bean bags.
