Cadillac unveils monument on 40th anniversary of Kiss visit
CADILLAC: A monument celebrating the 40th anniversary of the rock band Kiss' visit to the northern Michigan community of Cadillac has been unveiled.

The Cadillac News reports (http://bit.ly/1G7cXAe ) that the approximately 10-foot-tall black granite monument is placed near Cadillac High School's stadium.

It reads, in part: "The renowned bond between Cadillac and Kiss endures to this day."

The band known for wearing makeup that masks the members' faces visited Cadillac in October 1975 to meet the football team, which credited Kiss' music for its winning season the previous year.

Kiss rode in the homecoming parade, performed in the school gym and left from the football field in a helicopter.

Members of the band weren't able to attend Saturday's unveiling.
