Bill Gates accepted that child mortality is very tough to discuss and said he could never imagine losing a child as a parent. He added that it is shocking to see the words "die" and "children" in the same sentence.

Bill Gates added that the world had made significant progress in this area in the past few decades, and the number of children, who die in a year, has reduced by over half since 1990.
If we are to go by the improvement in child mortality rate, the world is doing well despite the setback of Covid. He says if we take child mortality as a measure of how the world is doing, we are doing well and are on a path of much more improvement.
