'Top Gun: Maverick': Check out film's box office success, Oscar dreams, sequel speculation

Filmmaker Joseph Kosinski is remarkably polite over the success of the 'Top Gun: Maverick'. He is the director of the movie, which is decade's longest-running box office success.

Kosinski has been the one, who has been most shocked by its success. When theatres some thing to cheer for, Skydance and Paramount's action-packed thriller, which features Tom Cruise's return to the skies 36 years after the original movie, has emerged as a surprise hit.

As a result, 'Maverick' has become the year's top film, with a staggering $1.4 billion worldwide box office revenue.

It's an unbelievable situation for him. The movie, which went on sale for home entertainment on August 23 at a steep price, spent 12 of its first 13 weeks in the top five of the domestic box office charts, and it just keeps going.

Maverick performed exceptionally well
'Maverick' eclipsed 'Avengers: Infinity War' and performed well over the weekend, making around $683.4 million and standing among the top 6 highest grossing box office movies. Maverick was among the blockbusters like 'Avatar', 'Star Wars: Episode VII—The Force Awakens', and 'Black Panther'. For Kosinski, this is an outstanding achievement to stand among the epic films.

Will there be another sequel?

Other than this, there has been much speculation about a second sequel because of the movie's total increased sales. Now, the question is whether there might be a more significant 'Top Gun' filmmaking universe, or does the franchise only succeed with Cruise at the controls?
Kosinski said he doesn't know if there will be any other sequels in the future.

Jerry Bruckheimer's take on the second sequel
The first sequel's producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, is also apprehensive about uniting Cruise and the company for yet another thrilling journey. According to Bruckheimer, a perfect story is required, with Tom's willingness to play this character again.

Regarding his Oscar expectations for the follow-up, he is slightly more straightforward. The movie has been cited as a great blockbuster that has gained recognition from critics and the general public by several award-season experts.

Bruckheimer also praised Maverick's $19.99 digital edition. It will also feature extras, including a look at the movie's aerial sequences and details about Cruise's passion for risky feats.

Kosinski also provided 110 minutes of a new film, recently recorded for individuals, who like to learn about behind-the-scenes activities.
