SIIMA 2022: Pushpa wins big, Allu Arjun is best actor

The first half of the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) 2022 concluded on Saturday in Bengaluru. The top brass from the four industries down south were present at the event. Saturday's event saw award ceremonies for the Telugu and Kannada film industries, and, quite expectably, Allu Arjun’s mega blockbuster, Pushpa, won big at SIIMA 2022.

Pushpa, which came out in December last, became an instant cult classic, with Allu Arjun’s iconic bearded look and swag resonating with audiences beyond the national borders. Thus, it was likely for the Sukumar directorial to bag all the major awards at the 10th annual SIIMA. Here is all the awards Pushpa won last night in the Telugu Cinema categories:

Pooja Hegde, who will feature alongside Salman Khan in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, won the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in Most Eligible Bachelor.



Allu Arjun’s Pushpa was the highest-grossing Indian movie of 2021 and one of the biggest Telugu blockbusters of all time. In fact, on its opening day, the movie amassed $850,000 in the US and broke the Rs. 100 crore mark in just three days. The movie also received positive reviews from critics in India and elsewhere.

The Telugu star received a lot of praise from fans and critics for making the central character, Pushpa, one of the most memorable and iconic characters played on screen in a very long time. The mass appeal of the movie, coupled with a phenomenal ensemble performance, helped break language barriers.

Awards for Tamil and Malayalam films will be distributed on Sunday evening.
