Born on September 13, 1969, Warne has achieved many milestones in his cricketing career. His sudden death on March 4, 2022 was a shock to the cricketing community and his fans all across the globe. Today, on his birth anniversary, as many are paying their tribute to the star, here’s a look at some of the lesser-known facts about his life.

In a calendar year, Shane Warne took the highest number of wickets in international cricket. The record stands at 96 wickets, which any other bowler is yet to beat.

Warne ranks second in the category of the fastest bowler to have taken 700 wickets in Test cricket. Muttiah Muralitharan of Sri Lanka is at the first spot.


In test cricket, Warne has scored 1,000 runs against 100 wickets. Warne had played a total of 145 test matches with total wickets of 708. Shane Warne has the record of taking four-wicket hauls in three consecutive ODI innings. It is the highest by any bowler.
