It’s KK’s 54th birthday today, let’s remember how the legend made it to the music industry in his initial days and gave us such beautiful timeless songs. Let's check out some of his rare pictures.

Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, was born on August 23, 1968 to Malayali parents in New Delhi. This veteran star is a commerce graduate from Kirori Mal College. KK spent almost half a year working as a marketing executive before he could find his love for music and pursue it as a career.

During his initial days of struggle, KK had to sing at hotels to meet his monthly expenses. KK is one of the finest music artistes, who has not taken any formal music lessons or training. Mahesh Bhatt loved KK's voice phenomenally.

KK was gifted with frivolous, anguished and romantic voice that can touch the depths of heart with ease. It is his 54th birthday today and we have a bundle of his golden memories.


A Delhi boy, who paved his way in the music industry, in the most graceful style. In one of the interviews, KK said he sang around 3,500 odd jingles before he could get his dream break.

KK's super hit melodies 'Tu Aashiqui Hai', 'It's The Time To Disco', and 'Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai' are all-time favorites that are loved even after so many years. The versatile music gem took his last breath on May 31 this year. His demise came as a shock to the fraternity and fans.

First is always the best but it is not true for this legendary music star. KK's debutant song was 'Chhod Aye Hum' from the film 'Maachis'. However, he earned fame and limelight when he sang the song 'Tadap Tadap' from 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'.

KK tied the knot with his lady love and childhood buddy, Jyothy Krishna. This beautiful made-for-each-other couple was blessed with two sweet children, Nakul and Taamara. On The Kapil Sharma Show, the singer revealed he dated only one girl and married her that is Jyothy.

In the late 90s and 2000s, KK sang and gave superhit melodies in varied languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bengali. He also received a National award for his best work, 'Tu Aashiqui Hai' from Jhankaar Beats.
