A viral disease called Monkeypox Virus has been spreading extensively around the world nowadays. It was earlier found in the primates but now it has started to affect humans too.

Monkeypox Virus has spread to numerous countries in a very short span of time. Initially, the cases of this disease were found in the United Kingdom only in May 2022.

This virus has spread across the globe now and giving sleepless nights to many people. We would like to share five myths about this virus.

1.Monkeypox is a new version of the COVID-19 virus

Monkeypox hails from the smallpox virus category and it is nowhere linked to the COVID-19. The transmission style is also different than Coronavirus. But the effects of the monkeypox virus are quite extreme and devastating.

2. Monkeypox has been discovered recently
Monkeypox was discovered way back in the 1950s but this virus was first transmitted to humans in the 1970s. The few symptoms observed in the infected humans were fever and rashes on the face.

This myth has caused panic around the globe as many people assume but do not do proper research. The typical recovery time of monkeypox disease ranges from two to four weeks, depending on your immune system. Regular consumption of balanced meals along with proper hydration prove to be an aid while dealing with this virus. Drumsticks and basil leaves help the infected in early recovery.

4. Monkeypox is spread by only monkeys
The name of this virus may confuse many that monkeypox is spread by monkeys. But in reality, monkeys are not the only source for contracting Monkeypox virus. It can also be transmitted through squirrels, rats, other primates and fellow humans. The best way to avoid getting this virus is by avoiding contact with these animals and also fellow humans who have signs of monkeypox.

5. Monkeypox targets a particular category of people
Another myth going around about this virus is that it targets people with particular sexual preferences. The reality is that this virus is spread through body excretions, be it spit, semen, etc. You can catch this disease if you are in contact with an infected person like HIV.
