Meet Doodle For Google 2022 contest winner Sophie Araque-Liu. Check out her artwork

The internet giant, Google, has decided to display the artwork of Sophie Araque-Liu, who has won the Doodle for Google 2022 contest. The company has decided to showcase the artwork of the 16-year-old winner throughout August.

The winning artwork is now live on the homepage of Google (Google.com) and in Google Chrome.

Google declared Sophie the winner after several evaluations and public voting rounds. Doodle for Google is an annual contest wherein Google asks students throughout the United States to submit their artwork based on a particular Google Doodle theme.


The theme for Doodle for Google 2022 was "I care for myself by..." With this theme, the internet giant asked students to express their positive approach towards renewing their emotional and mental health.

In selecting a winner, the judges' panel of Google first evaluates thousands of entries and then shortlists one best artwork from each state and territory of the US. Once one winner is selected from each state and territory, the public gets an invitation to vote for their favorite artwork.

Google gets five national finalists from different age groups during the public voting process. After this, the judges' panel again evaluates the artworks of these finalists. Subsequently, they arrive at the winner's name unanimously.

The judges' panel for this year included the Teacher of the Year 2021 and Selena Gomez.

Sophie's artwork was entitled "Not Alone". It encouraged the viewers to ask for and accept help from people around them. In her Google Doodle, the second O of Google is replaced with a hug between two family members. All other letters in her artwork are written with a red brushstrokes.


Besides showing Sophie's artwork to the world via its homepage, Google will also grant her a college scholarship of $30,000. The company will also give Sophie's school a $50,000 technology package. The technology package is for the improvement of the laboratory facilities.
