Liger OTT release: Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday starrer film locks digital release date and platform. Details inside

'Yevade Subramanyam' and 'Pelli Choopulu' star Vijay Deverakonda, and Ananya Panday starrer ‘Liger’ has been released in theatres today.

Apart from being given a wide release in India, the film has been showcased in many international territories as well.

The release strategy adopted by the makers is rather interesting. While the Telugu version of the film has already been released today, the Hindi version will be playing in theatres from tonight.


From tomorrow morning, there will be regular shows for both the Hindi and the Telugu versions of the film.

Even before being released in the theatres, the film had secured a digital platform for itself. As per reports, the streaming rights of the film have been sold to Disney+ Hotstar.

Reports also indicated that the producers have received a huge amount for the film’s digital rights. The real figures, however, have not been disclosed.

While one is not sure about the exact date on which the film will have its digital premiere, a bunch of recent events can help one guess the release window.



The producer’s guild in the Telugu film industry had decided for films to have an eight-week window at the theatres before they get an OTT release. Keeping this fact in mind, one can assume that ‘Liger’ would be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar sometime in October.

Given the fact that leading man Vijay Deverakonda charged Rs 25 crore for the film, one is pretty sure that Disney+ Hotstar would have paid a substantial amount to procure its digital rights.

The film has generated a lot of buzz, and it would be interesting to see how much it collects on the first day of its release.

Apart from the entertaining trailer and the foot-tapping songs, the film has been in the news because of the crackling chemistry between Vijay and Ananya.
