JioPhone 5G to be launched soon: 13MP camera, price expectation, and more

A new 5G smartphone is expected soon from Reliance Jio. After a successful launch of its entry-level model, Jio Phone-Next, last year, the market expects an early launch of the JioPhone 5G. In addition, the eagerly awaited 5G service from Jio is also expected soon.

According to market sources, the JioPhone 5G may be equipped with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+, supported by a 60Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, the device is expected to be powered by an Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 480/5G chipset. The other features are expandable storage of 32GB and 4GB of RAM.


The set will likely feature a dual camera system with a 13-megapixel (MP) primary camera and a 2-megapixel (MP) macro camera. Additionally, the device will feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication for safety.

The new phone is rumored to run on Pragati OS, like the JioPhone Next, and may have both Google Play Services and a few Jio apps. The additional features like continuous Google Assistant, read aloud text, and Google Lens enabled quick translation, among others, may be the additional features of the new smartphone.



The new JioPhone 5G will likely include a massive 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging capabilities and USB Type-C charging.

Given the aggressive price positioning strategy of Jio, the new smartphone price in India is anticipated to be under Rs 10,000. For example, the JioPhone Next was priced at Rs 6,499 at retail at the time of launch in 2021.
