Amazon went into the business of selling books soon after Bezos posted the ad. It took giant strides to become the global e-commerce giant that it has. It was 1994 and this week when Jeff Bezos posted his first job listing to hire for Amazon.

The ad came into the limelight on Twitter and went viral. According to the advertisement, Jeff Bezos was looking for extremely talented software developers who could pioneer internet commerce. He mentioned in the ad that the candidates should know how to build complex and large systems in less than one-third of the time, usually competent people could.

The advertisement also asked for interesting, intense, motivated, and talented co-workers. He also used coding languages such as Unix and C++. The advertisement also had soft skills as requirements. Excellent communication skills were a must.
Jeff Bezos looked for people with a Ph.D., MS, or BS in computer science or equivalent fields. He also mentioned that it is not necessary but would be an added advantage if the candidate had familiarity with HTML and web servers.
He also offered equity ownership to the selected candidate. He mentioned that Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and ended his advertisement with Alan Kay's quote: "It's easier to invent the future than to predict it".
