Google Pixel devices to get Android 13 software update in India. Know what it means for users

Android 13 update provides better and new features, improvements and graphic visuals to pixel devices.

After announcing the Android 13 updates on August 15, Google has finally started rolling it for Pixel devices. Updates will be available for all smartphones in India as well for Pixel 4 and higher devices.

Currently, only Pixel 6a and Pixel 4a are available in India for purchases. The devices of other Pixel 6 series are not available in India at present.

The new update offers plenty of new things for users along with a better visual display providing maximum convenience.


The update sizes vary from device to device with Pixel 4a having an update size of 855 MB, Pixel 6a with 1.06 GB, and Pixel 6 and Pro, a bigger size of 1.25 GB. It is advisable to back up all the data before installing any updates. Users of the Pixel 6 series will not be able to shift back to Android 12 if they aren’t happy with the update. While this problem will not be faced by the users of Pixel 4a.

After the update, some users report that they are facing issues with the wireless charging as the update has hampered this function completely for Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 4 and also the Pixel 4XL versions.

Android 13 comes with several bug fixes, improved performances and new features for Google Pixel users.

What's a Google event without its flagship devices. The tech company teased the Pixel 7 series and shared its glimpse during the Google I/O event.

The sleek device will come with Google's new generation of Tensor 5G chipset and Android 13. While Google refrained from sharing more details about the device, the teaser showed that that the Pixel 7 Pro will sport a triple camera set-up.

Google introduced the much-awaited Pixel 6a - the smakker version of the Pixel 6 - at the developers conference on Wednesday night.

Priced at $449 (around Rs 35,000), the smartphone has the Google Tensor 5G processor, and industry-leading security from Titan M2 chip. With a 6.1-inch display and slim bezels, the device has been designed to offer a smart two-tone look.

Pixel 6a sports a dual rear camera set-up - 12.2MP primary lens and a 12MP ultra-wide angle.

Google ended the long wait by announcing its first-ever Pixel Watch at the developers event.

Like the leaks suggested, the Pixel Watch will come with a circular, domed design, and feature a 'tactile' crown and side button.

In this new update, users can now control notifications better. Every time a new app is installed, the user will get a pop-up asking for notifications permissions. A neater interface for the clipboard has been introduced wherein a floating window shows the text which has been copied.

More privacy tweaks have been made by Google to protect sensitive data like bank account numbers, passwords, etc. Users can add a QR code scanner in the Quick Settings menu at the top. QR code scanner has a dedicated tile in the menu which can be accessed easily now.

You can simply install the update by heading to Settings > System > System Updates. The Android 13 version should be available and you can install it instantly.

Android 13 has made accessibility better with its subtle features. Devices other than Pixel will have to wait for a few months before getting this update.
