'House of the Dragon' is the much-anticipated prequel to the legendary show 'Game of Thrones'. This series first premiered on HBOMax and Disney+Hotstar. While most of the world watched it on Sunday (August 21) evening, in India, it was released at half past six on Monday morning, the August 22.

The story of this series is focused centrally on the civil war that broke out during the reign of the Targaryens. It has been three years since the finale of one of the highest-rated shows in the last decade, Game of Thrones, was released. 'The House of the Dragon', like most of 'Game of Thrones', is based on the book by George RR Martin. His 2018 novel called 'Fire and Blood' established the premise of this show. Since the show is a prequel, it is loosely set two hundred years before the events of 'Game of Thrones' even began.

The directors of the show are Martin Condal and Ryan J Condal. The cast of this series includes Paddy Considine (plays the role of Viserys the first), Emma D'Arcy (plays the role of Princess Rhaenyra as an adult), Matt Smith (plays the role of Prince Daemon Targaryen), Steve Toussaint (plays the role of Corlys Velaryon), Milly Alcock (plays the role of Princess Rhaenyra as a child), Graham McTavish (plays the role of Ser Harrold Westerling) and Olivia Cooke (plays the role of Alicent Hightower).

What is the plot of the 'House of the Dragon'?
Most of the 'Game of Thrones' fans were disappointed, to say the least, after the final season was aired. Fans have also been waiting for George RR Martin to finish the last book in the series so they can accept Game of Thrones's actual ending.

This series is mainly based on the novel by George RR Martin - Fire and Blood. It also takes bits from the novella 'The Princess and the Queen' and the novelette 'The Rogue Prince'.

'House of the Dragons' goes back in time to relive the war that is best known as the 'Dance of the Dragons'. It is roughly two centuries before the Westeros war of the Five Kings. This series takes place after the death of king Viserys the first. A war breaks out between Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and prince Aegon the second for the Iron Throne.

While George RR Martin had criticised many episodes of the 'Game of Thrones' TV series, he had watched nine episodes of this series and has praised it. He compared his books and their characters to his children and says that when anyone gives up their child for adoption, they want to know how they are treated and if they will recognise them later.
