Best known for her roles in 'Diya Aur Baati Hum' and 'Pavitra Rishta,' actor Kanishka Soni became the second reported case of sologamy in India after Gujarati woman Kshama Bindu, who married herself.

Television actor, Kanishka Soni, who is well-known for her work in several daily soaps has reportedly married herself.

She shared a series of images on Instagram showing herself in casual clothing with a 'mangal sutra' and 'sindoor' on her forehead. She wrote a lengthy letter in the caption to let her admirers know that she adheres to the Indian cultural belief that marriage is about love and honesty rather than sex.

Why did Kanishka choose sologamy or autogamy?

She explained with a lengthy caption in her post about why she married herself.

Kanishka wrote that because it was she, who fulfilled all of her dreams with her efforts and is the only person she is in love with. She also answered the age-old question she was being asked. She said she doesn't need a man, “Not now, not ever!”

She stated how she is always happy alone and in solitude with her guitar.

She ended the caption by stating how both Shiva and Shakti are a part of her.

She discussed her perspective and choice to wed herself in a different post. She wrote about how many people had questioned her decision to undergo a #selfmarriage. She declared that she firmly believes in Indian culture before outlining her reasons for choosing to live alone.

Kanishka discussed how marriage is not just about having sex but also about seeking out the love and honesty one needs.

She also added that it's preferable to love oneself and live alone than to look for it outside when it's so hard to find. However, she did take time to thank everyone for making her post viral and trending on Google and in the news when it had never been her intention.

She clarified that she had decided to shut down the trolls after reading them thoroughly. She mentioned how several people assumed that because she shared that post, she must have used alcohol or 'ganja.'

She clarified, that despite working in the industry for a long time, she had never tasted alcohol or anything else because she is so inherently Indian.

Kanishka affirmed that she chose sologamy with her whole heart, soul and conscious intellect. She closed the post by expressing her happiness at being in the United States and her intention to pursue a career in Hollywood.
