Balenciaga’s shoelace earrings are latest target of jokes
Luxury fashion house Balenciaga recently launched its new earring designs, and one design featured earrings made of shoelaces. Priced at Rs.20,000, the earrings have become the butt of jokes as social media cannot stop trolling the fashion house.

The luxury fashion house Balenciaga continuously updates new apparel or accessories designs. The brand launched its bag designs a while ago, and social media went into a trolling frenzy. The bags were described as trash bags priced over Rs.1 lakh and heavily trolled. Now, the company’s pair of earrings is in the line of fire.
Listed on the website as "plate earrings", the earrings look like they are made of shoelaces. The earrings are made using recycled polyester and cotton in the color tone of black and white stripes. The metal used is antique silver and brass. At a look, the earrings look like shoelaces that have been tied to a metal plate bearing the company logo.
The inflated price tag for a pair made with shoelaces has made social media users angry. They have tagged the product and called out the company for its ridiculous designs and more ridiculous price tags. The company has priced the earrings at $261, which converts to Rs 20,848.
One user commented that those who go out to buy these earrings are wild humans. Another user remarked that Balenciaga is taking quite a few liberties in pricing its shoelace earrings at £200.
