Apple provides rental toolkit for self service repair for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro

Customers based in the US can purchase genuine Apple accessories and tools for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro from today onwards. Apple charges $49 for a rental toolkit.

Last year, Apple introduced its Self Service Repair programme, which enables customers to do some iPhone model repairs entirely on their own. The concept is currently being expanded to include MacBook laptops. The programme will only apply to M1-powered MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models. Additionally, the Cupertino-based tech giant has confined repairs to the trackpad, top casing with battery, and also the display. The iPhone repair programme is presently accessible only in the USA.

In a statement on its website on Monday, the iPhone manufacturer announced the rollout of a self-service repair programme for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models with the M1 processor. Beginning today, Apple will offer repair guides, actual Apple components, and tools via Apple Self Service Repair Store.

For each model of the M1 MacBook, the programme will comprise of many repair types, including top case the trackpad, top casing with battery, and also the display. Apple intends to expand its lineup of laptops in this year itself.

In April, Apple announced the Self Service Repair programme and a rental tool kit for people to fix their iPhone SE, iPhone 12 series, and iPhone 13 series. The US presently offers it for users of iPhone, and it will undoubtedly debut in Europe eventually in this year.
