Aarya Walvekar wins Miss India USA 2022

Indian American teenager Aarya Walvekar was crowned with the title of Miss India USA 2022 in New Jersey as the pageant, organized annually, completes 40 years of its existence this year. Winning the crown was a big achievement for Walvekar, who wishes to pursue a career in acting.

While interacting with the media post the event, the 18-year-old from Virginia said that she had dreamt of becoming an actress since she was a child. From a very young age, she was hooked on films and television and nurtured dreams of someday seeing herself on the big screen.

While participating in debates and cooking are her favorite hobbies, she also cherishes the experience of traveling and exploring unchartered territories.


Walvekar is quite active on Instagram and shares important updates related to her life with her followers on social media. A bit back, she took to Instagram to share that she got an opportunity to host a live event marked by the presence of popular Bollywood singers Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, and Alka Yagnik.

While Walvekar was conferred with the winning crown, Saumya Sharma emerged as the first runner-up in the competition. The New Jersey-based Sanjana Chekuri became the second runner-up. Akshi Jain, who hails from Washington State, won the Mrs. India USA title.

This pageant is special because it is the oldest Indian pageant organized in a foreign country. Exactly forty years back, Dharmatma and Neelam Saran, Indian Americans based in New York, laid the foundation for the first Miss India USA competition. Since then, this beauty pageant has gone from strength to strength.

While addressing the media during the 40th edition of the Miss India USA pageant, Dharmatma Saran stated that the entire team is highly grateful to the global Indian community for its steadfast support of this event and for making it a successful entity.
