Budget 2019: Tax relief for middle-class; Twitter goes into overdrive with memes
From 'Uri' to Modi and Rahul Gandhi, everyone made it to the memes.
With an eye on the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the government announced mega sops for the middle class, farmers and unorganised workers.
The FM announced no tax on income up to Rs 5 lakh and increased the standard deduction to Rs 50,000 from Rs 40,000; while also including farmer income support scheme of Rs 6,000 per year.
While financial analysts took to decoding the hidden lines behind the schemes, Twitter erupted with memes over the announcements - ranging from 'Uri' references (FM Goyal also made a reference to the film in his speech) to Modi and Rahul Gandhi jokes.
