BTS V returns as actor in ‘That Night, Our Decaf’ after nearly a decade
After a long gap from acting, Kim Taehyung, better known as BTS member V, is finally coming back to the screen, though not in a full drama but through a short film format. The project, titled That Night, Our Decaf, has already started getting attention online after its teasers and posters were released earlier this week.

This release also comes at a time when BTS are in the middle of a busy comeback phase, making the timing feel a bit packed but interesting for fans who have been waiting to see V act again.

Release date and where to watch

The short film is scheduled to release on April 10, 2026. It will not be going to theatres or OTT platforms in the usual way. Instead, it will be made available through the official digital platforms and social media channels of Compose Coffee.

The teaser shared online also confirmed the release with the caption, “That Night, Our Decaf | TEASER. Coming Soon: April 10, 2026. The story that begins that night, just for us. Exclusively releasing on Compose Coffee.”

What the story is about

Going by the teaser and early details, the story is quite simple on the surface but seems to rely more on mood and small moments. It starts with Taehyung’s character walking into a café late at night and ordering a decaf coffee. A woman enters soon after and orders the same thing, leading to a quiet but noticeable moment between the two.

Some reports also describe the narrative as following two students whose lives get connected after this unexpected meeting. The story is expected to explore emotional tension, silence, and unspoken feelings rather than big dramatic events.

The teaser itself carries the line, “That night, our own story begins,” which hints that the film is more about a personal, almost private kind of connection rather than a large storyline.

Not just an ad, but a short film

Even though the project is part of a brand campaign, it is being presented more like a short film than a typical advertisement. This is part of V’s ongoing collaboration with Compose Coffee, which began after he was signed as the brand’s ambassador back in 2023.

The brand has continued to build campaigns around him, including the earlier “V COMPOSED” project. Director Yu Kwang-geong had earlier shared that Taehyung even improvised parts of that campaign, something that fans noticed and appreciated at the time.

For many viewers, this project stands out mainly because it marks V’s return to acting nearly a decade after his debut in Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. Since then, he has stayed focused on music, group activities, and solo work.

So even though That Night, Our Decaf is not a full-length drama, it still feels like a small step back into acting for him, something fans have been asking about for years now.

The timing of the release is also worth noting. BTS recently returned with their album ARIRANG, and the group is set to begin their world tour on April 9, just a day before the short film drops.

This means that within the same week, Taehyung will be seen both on stage with BTS and on screen in a quiet, late-night story.
