Britain is facing a kitchen-sink drama

While Theresa may or may not be able to effect a graceful Brexit, it seems her compatriots can never sever the union their taste buds have formed with the supposedly Indian-origin chicken tikka masala that has become Britain's national nosh. It remains to be seen if, following Brexit, Britain will extend Most Favoured status to India. But if the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Sir Vince Cable, can have his way, Britain could well award India the Most Flavoured status. The Lib-Dem leader has proposed the introduction of a 'Vindaloo visa' to chefs from the Indian subcontinent in order to make up for the severe shortfall of cooks that has caused the British curry to become what might be called a form of endangered spices.

Just how grave the situation is can be gauged by the guesstimate by a foodie association that on an average, four out of a total of some 6,000 curry restaurants are shutting every week in the country, not for lack of demand but for an inadequate supply of those who have the requisite skills to put the vind up the aloo.
