RJ Mitte, best known for being a part of the award-winning series Breaking Bad, breathed his last on Monday, October 12. He was just 34. Although the cause of his death has not been determined yet, reports suggest that Mitte died by suicide. For the unversed, he had been living with cerebral palsy, much like his on-screen character Walter White Jr aka Flynn, in Breaking Bad. Interestingly, Mitte’s final social media post on Instagram was just 5 days before his death, where he expressed his desire to revive his Breaking Bad character.

RJ Mitte’s final Instagram post

Mitte posted a video on October 7, featuring him in a podcast with Joe Vulpis. During the discussion, Mitte said that, according to him, there could be more to show about the famed fictional White family.

Mitte starred as the son of Bryan Cranston’s Walter “Heisenberg” White and Anna Gunn’s Skyler White in Breaking Bad. Mitte told Vulpis that the end of the series might not indicate the end of the White family.

RJ Mitte on Breaking Bad’s White family

Mitte believed that the conclusion of Breaking Bad only marked the end of Heisenberg’s story and not the entire White family. He felt that several aspects of Skyler, Walt and Holly’s lives remained unexplored. There were questions with no answers within the original series.

Additionally, Mitte also suggested that there was scope to explore the story of the White family, provided that the continuation was handled thoughtfully and did justice to the original show. Mitte also reflected on the series’ enduring legacy. He acknowledged that matching or surpassing its success would be a challenge.

Mitte, who was also a disability rights activist, died in Brownsville, Texas. According to the Brownsville Police Department, he was found dead at his home when officers arrived at 12:50 p.m. An investigation is currently underway.
