Last week, Bombay Canteen, the hip Lower Parel restaurant, celebrated its first birthday. Owners Floyd Cardoz, Sameer Seth and Yash Bhanage each brought along a guest of honour to the party — their mothers. The guest list also included Gauri Devidayal of The Table, Chef Irfan Pabaney from Sassy Spoon, Mandira Bedi and others from the food fraternity. The highlight of the menu was the elaborate birthday cake in the likeness of a Bandra bungalow at the centre of the table. After a live performance from an a capella band, Sameer also gave a thank you speech where he applauded Yash for his spot on the Forbes ‘30 Under 30 list’ and teasingly acknowledged Floyd as ‘the wise old man
