Several Bollywood stars took to social media to send birthday wishes to the King of Romance.
Bollywood’s one and only Baadshah, Shah Rukh Khan turned 57 years old today. Along with his legion of fans, many Bollywood celebs also took to social media to send birthday wishes to the superstar. Among them were his long-time friends Karan Johar, Juhi Chawla, and Farah Khan. Other celebs like Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Shilpa Shetty, and Ananya Pandey also dedicated some rather heartwarming happy birthday posts to King Khan.

Taking to Instagram, filmmaker Farah Khan shared a series of photos featuring herself with Shah Rukh and wrote, “Mine!! (red heart emoji) my Shah, my friend, megastar, the man who made me a filmmaker, who is a King but so humble, who has the guts to laugh the loudest at himself, larger than cinema itself.. happy birthday @iamsrk am so proud to be ur friend.. (red heart emoji) thank you for all that you are". Khan had directed SRK in two blockbusters, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Main Hoon Na’.
Johar, who had been a close friend and confidante to Khan and his wife Gauri, penned an emotional post on Instagram, recalling the first time he met the ‘Baazigar’ star. The film was KARAN ARJUN… the set was in Film City… My father and I arrived ( me playing the part of a plus-size hanger-on) for a professional meeting ( the signing on the dotted line for the film DUPLICATE) I had many apprehensions about movie stars … many of them based on fact and some of course Stardust! So I wondered about this new breakthrough star who was apparently a lot like his first big hit (DEEWANA for the uninformed ) … he was in costume and met my father warmly and gave him a massive jhappi! He shook my hand and with his immensely kind eyes asked me many questions about my non-existent career and my unproductive life (at that time) My answers were as bland as khichdi for an upset stomach but he listened with so much attention that I felt at that time that I had cracked the Da Vinci code… "That was 29 years ago… Today I call him Bhai and he still listens to me with wrapped attention (even when I am discussing my trials and tribulations of hosting a talk show) his kind eyes are even kinder … and he is …PERSONALITY! That word just means SRK! “ Johar wrote.
The director went on to say that his ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ hero is his “fiercest critic and hugest inspiration.”

Actress Juhi Chawla who had worked with Khan in films such as ‘Yes Boss’, ‘ Darr’, ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’, ‘Duplicate’ etc, recalled her experience of working with the megastar. “A 100 trees for Shah Rukh Khan. Happy Birthday, ShahRukh. May God Bless you and all the ones near and dear to you. Happiness and Love always, always, always. Juhi” wrote Chawla.
‘Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein’ actress Dia Mirza shared a picture of her posing with Khan, Priyanka Chopra, and Lara Dutta for a Femina Magazine cover on Instagram and wrote, “Happy Birthday Shah sir (lion, hug and heart emojis) I'd rather look at you than anything else-then, now and forever! Thank you for bringing so much joy to our lives. Thank you for being you. May this year be wonderful in every year."

‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ was released in 2003 and starred Preity Zinta opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. Although this Nikkhil Advani-directorial had shades of the 1971 Hrishikesh Mukherjee film ‘Anand’, the movie managed to be a standalone entity thanks to a water-tight screenplay and picture-perfect performances from the cast. Khan plays Aman, a happy-go-lucky guy who nurses a big secret. He eventually becomes matchmaker between Naina (Preity Zinta) and Rohit (Saif Ali Khan). Naina is infatuated with the cheerful and likeable Aman, but he turns down her romantic overtures and acts seemingly disinterested.

Although his character will give you flashbacks of Rajesh Khanna’s Anand Sehgal, Khan refuses to let you ponder too much on the similarities. He delivers a tour de force performance as Aman, a guy whose carefully buoyant attitude covers several untold tragedies. He manages to infuse pathos and wry humour in what is essentially the male version of the ‘manic pixie dream girl trope’. Khan’s magnetic charm prevents Aman from becoming yet another tragicomic do-gooder cardboard character.

‘Mohabbatein’ is a Yash Chopra film that was released in 2000 and starred Shah Rukh Khan in the role of Raj Aryan Malhotra, an idealistic music teacher, who intends to transform the environment of the college in which he teaches. He finds the institute's culture efficient but stifling. Malhotra embarks on a quest to make the college more inclusive and welcoming. This leads to him locking horns with Narayan Shankar (Amitabh Bachchan) the authoritative headmaster who swears by ‘parampara, pratistha, anushasan’.

Although the movie was undeniably ‘inspired’ by the 1989 American coming-of-age drama ‘Dead Poets Society’, the film has managed to become a cult-classic over the years for the melancholic yet saccharine sweet romantic episode between Khan’s Raj Aryan Malhotra and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Megha and the epic tug of war and power play between the Khan and Bachchan’s (Amitabh) characters. Khan is as usual outstanding in the role of the quietly ambitious Raj Aryan who is determined to usher in sweeping changes at the gurukul. You probably wouldn’t hire him in real life, but couldn’t help but be in awe of his zeal!
