Boat Stone 700 wireless speakers review: A great deal for the price

The Stone 700 is the latest in the Stone range of wireless speakers from Boat, known for its water resistance and drop protection. Apart from a new design, it includes support for Bluetooth v4.2 (low energy). We reviewed the all-black variant, which looks unassuming but is a lot sturdier than it looks.

The speaker has large buttons on top for power, volume, pairing and a multi-function button (play/pause/call accept). All buttons respond well. Inside are dual speakers that deliver 10W and you can choose to connect using Bluetooth or a 3.5mm wired connection. The sound output is crisp with a good amount of bass. However, it does tend to sound bass-heavy and boomy at high volumes.


On the upside, there is a built-in microphone for voice calls that works well. With a 60% volume, we were able to get close to 8 hours of battery life, which matches the company’s claims. At the time of writing, you could buy one online for Rs 2,400, which makes it a great deal.
