NEW DELHI: German luxury carmaker BMW today launched an updated version of its premium sedan BMW 520d M Sport in India, priced at Rs 54 lakh (ex-showroom).

The model is being locally produced at the company's plant in Chennai in a diesel variant and is available at BMW dealerships across India, the company said in a statement.

"M stands for motorsport and is one of the most coveted badges that has shaped the history of performance automobiles. The next chapter of the BMW 5 Series in India will begin with the BMW 520d M Sport," BMW Group India president Frank Schloeder said.

The vehicle, which comes with eight-speed automatic transmission, takes just 7.7 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr and the top speed is 233 km/hr.
