The recently-concluded EICMA exhibition showcased motorcycles that are quieter, faster and easier to control.

The city of fashion, Milan, recently hosted its annual EICMA 2018 with motorcycle manufacturers from around the world showcasing their latest innovations and vision of the future. Here are the five motorcycles unveiled at the show that garnered worldwide attention:

Harley-Davidson LiveWire

After the first LiveWire prototype appeared in 2015, the ‘productionready’ electric motorcycle made an appearance at the EICMA this year, where the company confirmed that it will be released in 2019 as a 2020 model.

With an EV powertrain, it is the first Harley model without a clutch or a gear. It comes with seven different riding modes, while music and GPS are controlled by a Bluetooth-enabled touchscreen infotainment system.

BMW S 1000 RR
The new BMW made its world premiere at the EICMA 2018 and it comes with a newly-developed engine and suspension. The new suspension features Flex Frame, which improves the motorcycle’s ergonomics while the engine takes on more of a load-bearing function. The output of the 4-cylinder in-line engine is increased by 6 kW (8 hp) to 152 kW (207 hp) and the total weight is reduced by four kilos.

Suzuki KATANA
The black Katana was showcased for the first time at the Milan show, which will join its classic silver variant in Suzuki’s 2019 range. While the new Katana is heavily infl uenced by the original machine, under the skin, the new machine uses thoroughly modern engineering. Modernised for street-based performance, the inline four-cylinder engine delivers a peak power output of 150PS at 10,000rpm, and peak torque of 108Nm at 9,500rpm.

Husqvarna SVARTPILEN 701 2019
Husqvarna Motorcycles showcased three new models at the EICMA 2018, including the production SVARTPILEN 701 concept.

The volumes, silhouette, tank, and headlight characterise the design of the Monster 821 Stealth, which remains true to its legacy of bikes born in 1993.

The new variant, as its name suggests, comes with a matte black paint job with grey and red accents. The main highlights of the bike are its mechanical improvisations such as the Ducati Quick Shift (DQA) system, the adjustable inverted front telescopic fork and extra hardware to improve the riding experience.

These custom-built Royal Enfield beauties will take your breath away!

Whether it’s the resounding thump of the Bullet 350 or low-slung cafe racer design of the Continental GT, Royal Enfield has forever had a cult-like following all over the world.

Here we have four such custom-made motorcycles built by Bull City Customs, Inline3, TNT Motorcycles, and Bombay Customs in collaboration with Royal Enfield.

In Pic: Custom Chrome 500 – Bull City Customs
This 500 cc Classic Chrome, is the quintessential old-school bobber. The hard-tailed laid bare frame, ‘bobbed’ rear mudguard and spring loaded single seat hark back to the no-frills 40’s era of board track racing. The chromed-out peanut fuel tank and low slung handle bars clipped on to custom front forks make sure you’re as much at home on the roads as on the drag race track. Bull City Customs have also done away with the stock EFI (electronic-fuel-injection) in favour of the trusty old carburettor, so only you (no micro-chip tells you what to do) decide how fast that twist of the throttle takes you! The bobber also has a chain-oil tank, which protects the chain from dry spells on long rides.

Custom Classic 500 – Inline3 Customs
This Custom Classic 500 bobber from Inline3 Customs is a true-blue bobber right out of the 50’s Greaser era. The stock frame, fuel tank and rear gas-filled shock absorbers from the Classic 500 cc have been retained. The bike comes equipped with a chromed out air intake, a smaller grilled headlight and dial console on the front. What really catches the eye on this bobber are the whitewall tyres and the red stripes on the black bobbed fenders. All you really need to do is don some riding leathers, hop on to this one and raise some hell.

Custom Classic 500 – Bombay Customs
This bobber retains the stock frame of the Royal Enfield Classic 500, along with fuel tank, stock front forks and the integrated headlight that we’ve all come to love so much. The colours take you back to the era of classic motorcycling with the pinstriped white fuel tank and blacked out engine with copper accents. The heat wrap on the exhaust further adds power to the 500cc engine. Leather has been used rather lavishly on this bobber with the spring loaded seat, leather handlebar grips, a leather heat shield on the exhaust and a leather saddle bag.

Custom Continental GT – TNT Motorcycles
This growling ‘Brat’ style scrambler from TNT Motorcycles is the ultimate off-roader. Gone are the clip-on handle bars in favour of raised ones to give you more control when the going gets rough. A higher ground clearance and a sturdy bash plate on the lower front end keeps the engine safe from mud, rocks and whatever else nature can throw at it. The mudguards are barely there – they’re more for keeping the elements out of the engine block rather than protecting you from the mud. Slinging mud on the dirt track or riding through open grasslands on this true-blue scrambler will never be the same.
