Blade Runner 2099 OTT release date

Prime Video has announced that Blade Runner 2099 will premiere on November 25. The streaming platform unveiled a new trailer at New York Comic Con, starring Academy Award winner Michelle Yeoh and Euphoria actor Hunter Schafer.

Set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, the series introduces a transformed Los Angeles where Replicants have taken control and humans occupy a lower position in society. The story follows two characters whose paths cross during a dangerous mission that could change the city's future.

What is the plot of Blade Runner 2099?

The series follows Cora, a human fugitive who has spent her life taking on different identities to stay alive. As she tries to escape her past and secure a future for herself, she assumes one final identity as a Blade Runner. Her journey brings her face-to-face with Olwen, an ageing Replicant Blade Runner who is nearing the end of her life.

The two are forced to work together to track down a runaway whose secrets could threaten the city. Their mission unfolds in a world where the traditional divide between humans and Replicants has taken a new turn.

The story builds on the central themes of the Blade Runner franchise, including artificial intelligence, the meaning of humanity and the consequences of creating life. The changed social order also gives the new series an opportunity to explore what happens when those once treated as outsiders gain control.
