Blackpink's vocalist Rose accused of drug abuse, K-pop band's agency threatens legal action

K-pop girl group Blackpink’s company, YG Entertainment, has threatened legal action against those who have spread malicious rumours regarding the members.

This development comes after several drug abuse rumours surfaced online about Rose, the main vocalist of the band.

The agency has denounced the rumours and stated that strict legal action would be taken against those “spreading intentional lies claiming Blackpink’s Rose was using cocaine in a photo, with friends”.


Rumours of Rose snorting drugs spread like wildfire on social media when former Burberry chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci posted photos of her online. In the picture, the singer is seen posing with the group, in a jovial mood. Some social media users claimed that there were drugs in the background of the photo. Tisci deleted the picture afterward.
In a new statement, the agency said, “We reveal that the rumors associated with BLACKPINK’s Rosé that are spreading on various online communities, social media, etc. are clear false information. We are taking legal action against acts that violate the human rights of and defame our agency artists.”

Besides the drug abuse speculations, the picture also gave rise to rumours that the singer was dating actor Kang Dong Won. He made his TV debut with the 2003 K-drama ‘Country Princess.’

On the work front, Blackpink is currently preparing for Coachella 2023. They will be headlining the music festival on April 15 and April 22. They will be accompanied by artists such as Diljit Dosanjh, Rosalia, Charli XCX, the Kid LAROI, etc. Blackpink will also be conducting world tours. They will be travelling to cities such as Chicago, London, Abu Dhabi, etc. They will also be performing in the USA. American Blinks will be treated to a live performance at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles as well as Oracle Park, in San Francisco.
