‘Bigg Boss OTT 3’: Devoleena Bhattacharjee lashes out at Payal Malik for taking a dig at her interfaith marriage
Previously, the star of 'Saath Nibhana Saathiya' criticized the trio as "shameless" and accused them of glorifying polygamous marriages, which they believed could negatively impact future generations.

The trio received huge criticism for allegedly trying to normalise polygamy. ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’ star Devoleena Bhattacharjee lambasted the three for being a “shameless trio,” and suggested that they are ruining future generations by trying to glorify polygamous marriages.
Payal became one of the earliest contestants to be booted from the house. In an interview with Instant Bollywood, she reacted to Bhattacharjee’s criticism and said that the actress was in no position to judge her as she was married to a Muslim man. (She married her fiancee Shanwaz Shaikh in 2022). In Islam, a man is allowed to marry up to four women.
“Sabse pehle aap yeh dekhiye aap kitne criticise hue hai aapki shaadi ko leke. Jab apne ek Muslim guy se shaadi kari thi toh aapne bhi trolling ka saamna kiya tha. Main yhi kehna chahti hu, jab hum aapke life ke baare mein kuch nahi bol rahe toh aap bhi right nahi rakhte ho hamare relation ke baare mein bolne ke liye. (Firstly, see how much you were criticized after you got married. You also faced trolls when you married a Muslim man. I just want to say, when we did not say anything about your life, it is not right for you also to comment on our relationship),” she told the publication.
Devoleena Reacts
The firebrand actress did not waste time to give her a befitting reply. Taking to Instagram, the actress wrote that having an interfaith marriage is different than having a polygamous arrangement. She also stated that although her husband is allowed to have more than one wife, she trusts him not to abuse her faith in him.
The actress also maintained that as long as polygamous people are keeping these practices confined to home, they can marry as many times as they wish. “ Also a women self respect shouldn’t be compromised. But I can feel you. I know you can't understand this. Honestly, I feel pity for you. But then I guess that's how you wanted your marriage to be after seeing this. Everything could be YouTube content for you guys. But not me. So carry on. Signing off……” she wrote.
In an interview with India Today, Payal revealed that she was devastated when her husband married her best friend Kritika without even bothering to inform her. She said that she had departed from their home with her son and lived apart from him for a few days.
