Gold leggings? A dinosaur skull? The object of a celebrity's affection can often be weird and wonderful:

Leggy Lady

When Beyoncé struts, the world notices. During her 2007 BET Awards performance, the singer broke out a pair of Balenciaga leggings that she had bought for $100,000 (Rs 63.5 lakh approx). What's so special about these? They were embellished in real gold. Nothing but the very best for Queen B, of course.

Who You Gonna Call?

Forget the Ghostbusters, if you ever sense supernatural presences around you, call the 'Poker Face' star. She is said to have spent $50,000 (Rs 31.8 lakh approx) on an Electro-Magnetic Field Reader — a device that reportedly detects ghosts. So afraid of evil spirits is Gaga that she pays paranormal experts to scope her homes and hotel rooms before staying there. We have a better suggestion — Gaga should simply wear one of her outrageous outfits. Those are sure to scare away anything.

Sleepy Dan

A good night's rest is important. But does it warrant a $17,000 (Rs 10.8 lakh approx) mattress? Daniel Radcliffe thinks so. The Harry Potter star spent the amount on a Savior mattress from Savior Beds, that's made with horse hair fleece and pine wood. At that price, it better be magical. It was still less bizarre than his Harry Potter costar's Rupert Grint odd purchase of an actual hovercraft.

Where's Dino?

What would be the perfect addition to a castle, King cobras and two islands in the Bahamas? That's right — a dinosaur skull worth $276,000 (Rs 1.75 crore approx). Notorious Hollywood eccentric Nicolas Cage had to outbid Leonardo DiCaprio for this rare get. Somewhere, we imagine him pacing maniacally before the skull, screaming, Face-Off, style, "I am Castor Troy."

One Way Ticket

If a mere mortal were to discover that he or she left behind their favourite hat after reaching a foreign destination, they'd shrug and move on. But not Bono. The U2 front man was so distraught about leaving his Trilby hat behind in London, when he had to perform with opera singer Luciano Pavarotti in Modena, that he spent $1,700 (Rs 1 lakh approx) to have it delivered overnight on an airplane. First class, of course.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

Mike Tyson

He spent $2 million (Rs 12.7 crore approx) on a bathtub and Bengal tigers.

Steven Spielberg

He spent $60,500 (Rs 38 lakh approx) on a sled from Citizen Kane.

Kanye West

He spent $34,000 (Rs 21.6 lakh approx) on a gold skull for Jay-Z.

Paris Hilton

She spent $325,000 (Rs 2 crore approx) on a replica of her mansion for her dogs.
