Digital platforms have emerged as the means to regulate work from home in a transparent and smooth manner.

"All of us are adapting and trying to make optimum use of available digital platforms. Zoom is a platform for webinars, especially for my organisation, as I keep myself engaged throughout the day or week with line ups on this platform. WhatsApp group video calling is another medium for team discussions (for limited people)," Jatin Ahuja, MD, Big Boy Toyz tells ET Panache.

He believes in being in comfortable athleisure while working from home – enjoying your own space and work process.

"I do not resort to any mandatory dress up or office attire during the work from home scenario. My house is my work space and there is no particular dedicated corner, as such," Ahuja says.

As the company sold cars during the lockdown the transportation of cars was the biggest challenge. Logistics prices were at a peak. Also, the physical inspection of cars was challenging.

"However, with time, as relaxations were introduced, we ensured that we adhered to all the guidelines of lockdown issued by the government while getting our cars transported from one state to another," the Gurgaon-resident says.

His day starts with light exercising or cycling. Once that is done, Ahuja freshens up, spends some time with his family and starts his day.

"Working from home to manage three different locations – Gurgaon, Mumbai and Hyderabad (where we have our showrooms) for PAN India delivery of cars is something that takes up my day, in terms of ensuring that we have all updated high-end pre-owned luxury vehicles that our consumer base would want to purchase. Having said that, it is important to state that we have made our system work on an automated process – everything is aligned and each member knows his role in the process of getting the cars delivered to the consumers. Also, during this time, we have invested our time and energy to make the best use of digital platforms by promoting and launching our online booking platforms so that we can provide ease to our clients pan India and grab the first mover advantage towards future development of our digital platforms," he says.

Ahuja keeps his work and family life in balance. "Of course, work is still my priority as most of the time, I am either giving interviews online or recording a webinar on our social media channels; yet I ensure that I spend quality time with my family as they are my pillars of strength. I am giving myself a ‘break-worthy’ time. I’m enjoying time with my family, taking mental health seriously, and creating a pattern of good habits these days. I also try to exercise on a regular basis by making it interesting and include it in my lifestyle," he shares.

Now with relaxations in the lockdown in the Delhi-NCR, surprisingly Ahuja has developed a way of staying fit by cycling early in the morning.

"If I am occupied in the morning, I ensure to cycle a few odd kilometres every day after my work day is over. Cycling has not only emerged as a way of staying fit and maintaining my health but has also as something I have grown to love. The digital space has become a place that I do spend a lot of my time either giving interviews or hosting webinars from our social media platforms. It has further made me realise the importance of not only maintaining a work-life balance but also helped me prioritise the usage of the digital space to its maximum extent," the 34-year-old ends.

“I decided to use this opportunity to improve my physical conditioning. I started cycling (after more than 40 years) inside my gated community from mid-April. I went from seven kilometres per ride to 20 kilometres by the end of June. Recently, I did a 52-kilometre ride to Chikka Tirupathi [on the outskirts of Bengaluru]. Cycling has had a huge impact, not just on my physical conditioning but also my confidence.”

“Startups are quite demanding, so I’ve never been able to work out more than three days a week, even when I trained for the Ironman Triathlon. So, when the lockdown was announced, I decided to challenge myself with a ‘consistency goal’ of accomplishing a workout a day. It began with coordinated workouts on Zoom with my friends and as restrictions eased, I started going for outdoor runs. There were days when there would be so many calls that I’d be seen climbing the building stairs at 10 pm. I now have more than 100 days of workouts under my belt and it has been the biggest stressbuster.”

“During the lockdown, I have managed to master single-leg burpees. It’s important to have a defined schedule and stick to it. I ensure that I block out some time during the day for exercise. I work out at home daily with various bodyweight exercises — I do pushups, burpees and air squats. I love doing CrossFit and high-intensity interval training that combines weightlifting, aerobics, powerlifting and gymnastics.”
