Big B reveals how his father told him to get married if he wanted to go on a holiday with Jaya Bachchan
The actor penned a heartwarming blog post on his 46th wedding anniversary.

The couple, who has worked together in films like 'Sholay', 'Mili', 'Guddi' and 'Silsila', tied the knot in 1973.
MUMBAI: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan celebrated 46 years of marriage with veteran actress Jaya Bachchan on Monday. The 'Pink' actor took a walk down memory lane, remembering the day they tied the knot.
In an emotional note on his blog, the superstar revealed that his father - the late Harivansh Rai Bachchan - told him he could go only for a holiday with Jaya after the two got married.
And that is how they decided to tie the knot, in 1973.
"I lived on the 7th Road of this society in a rented house. Marriage had been decided among us, nothing to be exaggerated or celebrated with any aplomb...Just the two families and done. Off to London, my first trip ever and hers too...Zanjeer a success and a promise that if it did well we would all - a gang of our friends - would go on a holiday to London !" the cine icon wrote. Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan on their wedding day. He went on to share that the wedding was not a lavish affair, just one that had to be done before the flight.
"Seeking or rather informing parents that we were a group of friends going to England..who all are going came the query from Babuji..names disclosed..Jaya is also going with you .. you both are alone .. yes .. if you have to go marry and go .. ok .. pandit and family informed .. next day all set .. flight at night .. marriage to finish before the flight.. ," he recalled.

Going back to his wedding day, Bachchan wrote that he dressed up in formal Indian wear, got into his car and wished to drive to Malabar Hill where her friends lived and where the ceremony was to be done.
"My driver Nagesh pushes me out and insists he would drive me to the wedding... the substitute for the traditional horse."
While they were all set at Mangal, the name of the house on rent, it began to drizzle. "The rain is a good omen. Off I went, wedding over in a few hours. Done. Mr and Mrs proclaimed. Over," the superstar wrote.
The couple, who has worked together in films like 'Sholay', 'Mili', 'Guddi' and 'Silsila', has two children - Abhishek and Shweta Bachchan-Nanda. Both Jr Bachachan and Shweta also marked the occasion on social media.
